 Simca 1501 Special - 1972. £17,995

The Simca 1501 Special. A very rare station wagon in amazing time-warp condition. With only 33500 miles on the clock you can see why the interior has survived so well with such little use.  The car has been recently repainted and is great mechanical order with a current UK MOT, (Although it does not need one). The car was given an Honourable Mention at Hagerty's Festival of the Unexceptional (2022). Featured at the 2023 Classic Motor Show in Hall 5 at the Simca Club UK stand number 450. It was also featured in the Daily Telegraph in their 'UK's Rarest Cars' series.

This Simca 1501 Special has chrome trim everywhere so it is quite a showman. All of the doors shut with a deep and satisfying tone. The bodywork is a highlight as it sports new paint.

The interior is all original and it is all still in place. It is very rare to find any classic in this condition but it is so pleasing to see it here as it oozes French style. The seats are all in excellent condition and extremely comfortable. The rear bench seat has a central arm rest that opens and closes with ease.

The same seat has levers to lower the seat into the footwell to create a totally flat bed load area in the rear. The car is very useable as a daily driver and practical in many ways. The car benefits from a tow bar and sports the original tow bar cover that was a Simca optional extra.

Simca 1501 Special - The Movie

The film opposite lets you have a good look around the car. During filming the engine was on so you can hear how quiet it is when running.

The paint colour changes in different lights which is one of the car's amazing features but in our minds we think it really pops in a sunset.

Rear load area

The flat bead is fantastic and easy to lower the area seat - it takes seconds. To access the rear tyre you have to pull top the bed that is in fact a picnic table.

The idea Simca had was that you could pull out the picnic table and sit on the rear tailgate as a seat - it works very well. It looks like the picnic table has never been used as it still has factory 'Info paper' taped to the back of it.

To access the rear load area there is a lockable wind down rear tailgate window. Very unusual but a brilliant feature - and it all works perfectly.

THE ENGINE BAY

The engine bay is really clean - in fact amazing for the year as can be seen by the pictures. The car has been well maintained and starts on the button in the coldest weather.
