MaZDA MX-5 MK1 -  SOLD

Picture

The Story

This beautiful MX-5 MK1 had been in our collection for just over 3 years. During that time, over £8000 was invested in bringing the car up to the condition you can see here.

Our ambition for the car was to create a unique MX-5 custom whilst retaining the standard MX-5 engine and gearbox to keep within insurance limits for a first car. It's the 1.8L engine and delivers 130HP as factory standard.

The custom work was carried out by Johnny Angel Customs and the paint was completed at Hi-Flight. A full list of the works that have been completed on the car are below.

The interior

Interior was mostly OEM
Black Leather seats with headrest speaker (not wired in), some slight wear and tear
Wiring + Switch for heated rear window
Sony Single DIN Bluetooth Radio
OEM Steering wheel
OEM Shift Knob
OEM Door Speakers
Glovebox and driver’s side panel were missing in the photos as they were removed to replace the interior courtesy light but they were fitted prior to sale.

Exterior

The bodywork was carried out in May 2020 by Johnny Angel Customs a leading custom shop in the South East. They are famous for some leading custom applications and many cars are commissioned by overseas buyers.

Mazda PZ Black paint colour was retained and the car had a compete respray. There were some small and minor imperfections due to it being used on the road but nothing that detracts form the overall statement this car makes.

We took the time to fit the CarbonMiata wide arches professionally smoothing them onto the body - not bolted or riveted on as many choose to do. In our eyes, the blended arches produce a far more streamlined look that oozes quality over bolt ons.

Again, the 'Destroy or Die' Side Skirts were blended in with the arches and matched with a 'Destroy or Die' Front Bumper. This was complimented with a 'Garage Vary' Rear Light Panel. More expert blending was done to the Ducktail Spoiler that was blended into bootlid.

How splendid! It had been
blended!

The Rear Bumper is OEM and Antenna by 'Delete'

The hardtop was colour matched and repainted and has a heated rear screen and is fitted with a 'FibreWorx' Hardtop Spoiler.

The convertible roof had a new Mohair soft top with heated rear screen in solid glass.

When you want to take the perfect photograph you can use the Moss Miata Flip Up Front Number Plate that hides the plate completely. It drops down easily for road use.

This MX-5 has 'CarbonMiata' Sequential DRL’s, 'BV Autos' Halo Headlights and 'LED' Side Repeaters

It had a recent service including oil change at 76,000 miles and we complete some recent welding work on the chassis so this car is good to go for many more years.

In conclusion, this MX-5 is a very cool looking car with the very useful hardtop for winter. It is standard in terms of engine and gearbox making it a great first car and still offers a new owner the option to customise it further to their own tastes.
